Review of Efficiency CMOS Class AB Power Amplifier Topology in Gigahertz Frequencies

This paper reviewed the efficiency of CMOS class AB power amplifier topology especially in gigahertz frequencies. is a compromise between A and B terms linearity 50% to 78.5%. However, cannot have good simultaneously due breakdown gate-oxide voltage effects from hot carrier. The oxide prevents optimum drain signal effect carrier will reduce quality overall PA design. Several works year 1999 2019 with different such as multiple gated transistor, cascode, feedforward linearization, differential circuit, transformer combining method common source harmonic termination combination dual-switching transistor third tuning technique are discussed performances compared. best three topologies were chosen high efficiency. two stages integrated input interstage matching, Doherty combined modulation based architectures self-biased cascode that obtained added 45%, 43% 42%, respectively. Key performance indicators for include frequency, efficiency, gain output also this paper.
